About Us
The London Anchor Institutions’ Network (LAIN) brings together some of London’s biggest and most influential organisations, committed to creating a fairer, greener and more prosperous city.
LAIN was formed in 2021 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, which exposed and exacerbated long-standing inequalities within London and highlighted the growing urgency of the climate emergency.
In response, the Mayor of London convened some of London's biggest organisations across different sectors to lead London's recovery and mitigate the worst effects for those hardest hit - these organisations came together to form LAIN.
Since then, our members have been sharing practice, delivering joint projects and driving progress to improve outcomes for London and Londoners.

Governance
A steering committee, co-chaired by Lizzie Smith, Director of Workforce, Training and Education, NHS - London region, and Liz Hutchinson, CEO of London Higher, informs the network’s strategic priorities and oversees their execution.
The network is supported by a team at City Hall.
